Pelisse of the lifeguard officer of the hussar regiment, 1830 -1855

Hussars were the type of light cavalry, which originally appeared in Hungary. Hussars recruited horse riders of medium height. They had to pursue the enemy or conduct reconnaissance operations on fast horses.
Officer’s pelisse (top jacket) of life-guards hussar regiment is made of red cloth with a wide edging of fur on the collar, edg- es, and cuffs. The front of the jacket is sewn with a metalized gilded twisted cord. Over it, buttons with emblem are placed. On the sleeves, the pelisse is trimmed with a wide hussar gild- ed seaming lace with loops and knots. The lining is sewn on with red fabric.
